Wear Your Ugly Sweater to Board Early on Alaska Airlines

by Scott Mackenzie
Last updated January 6, 2019

Friday, December 21, is National Ugly Sweater Day. You can count on Alaska Airlines to offer early boarding on all its flights in a quirky celebration. Be sure to break out your ugliest sweater to take advantage of this opportunity as you jet away on holiday vacations or to visit family.

Me? I’ll be holed up in a luxury hotel in Paris — on a trip booked with my Alaska miles — trying to avoid the gilets jaunes. I’m not sure the fashionistas would allow me in the country wearing this:

Thanks to @mjwestrick for flipping the photo so you aren’t looking at a reflection.

This is not the ugliest piece of Alaska Airlines memorabilia I own. I actually like the sweater, even if it’s a bit large. Most years Alaska’s PR team sends me something cool. My favorite so far are cocktail glasses (I have sets with both the old and new logos). There are a few model planes and sweatshirts lying around. But the ugliest is an inflatable airplane hat that my dad picked up for me several years ago. It’s completely ridiculous, and I still have not worn it in public.

I might if it got me a free upgrade.

Since many readers have asked, if you want to purchase something with the Alaska Airlines logo, I recommend you check out the company store online or visit the headquarters near SeaTac airport. Unfortunately, I don’t think the ugly sweater is one of the items available for sale.
