Save 5% with Alaska Airlines Insider Extra Discount

by Scott Mackenzie
Last updated February 21, 2019

Alaska Email 5 pctI mentioned a couple weeks ago that Alaska Airlines offers discounted fares to members of its Club 49 program for Alaska State residents, but anyone can save money on Alaska’s flights by signing up for the regular Insider newsletter. In my email this morning there was a small ad in the corner offering “+5% OFF” and a sampling of one-way fares. To obtain the discount, which is in addition to the published fare, you need to click through to find that week’s coupon code.

While I was shown fares to San Jose, Salt Lake City, and Sacramento in the email, the complete list of offers for Seattle departures this week included some more appealing choices. There is currently a promotion for double award miles and double EQMs on flights from Seattle to San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose, among others destinations.

Alaska Weekly Specials

These specials are published as one-way fares, and my experience is that the reverse direction is offered at the same price, so you can double them to figure out the cost of round-trip travel. Then don’t forget to take off 5% using the weekly coupon code. Most travel is limited to specific days of the week (see complete fare rules below), so you may not be able to save money in both directions.

This week’s code is EC6208. Travel must be booked by 11:59 PM on March 24 (a week from today) for flights between April 1 and April 21. You can view deals online and find a link to subscribe to emails at Alaska’s website. The coupon code is only available to email subscribers.

Keep in mind that MVP Gold and MVP Gold 75K elite members can cancel their flights at any time to receive full credit toward future travel. MVP elite members and non-elites may also cancel their flights up to 60 days before departure and avoid a cancellation fee, but for travel by April 21, that window has already closed.

Fare Rules: Purchase by 11:59 p.m. (PT) on March 24, 2014. Travel is valid Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from April 1, 2014 through April 21, 2014 with the following exception: Travel from Mammoth Lakes to San Diego must be completed by April 13, 2014. Travel from Hawaii is valid Mondays through Thursdays. Travel to Hawaii is valid Sundays through Wednesdays. Tickets must be purchased 14 days in advance.
