Alaska Airlines Will Add More Flights to Vacation Destinations This Winter

by Scott Mackenzie
Last updated April 1, 2022

Anyone who knows me knows I love Seattle. The cold, rainy winters don’t bother me (and there have been entire months with zero break in the overcast clouds), while the summers are truly gorgeous. But even I admit that I need to take a break around February or March each year.

Alaska Airlines is filling that need by adding more flights from Seattle and Portland to popular vacation destinations starting this winter. In many cases it is simply adding frequency to its existing routes, but I can tell you that frequency is needed.

Take Seattle to Maui, for example. I love this route because the daily 5:40 PM departure lets me leave work a little early on Friday afternoon and make it to Hawaii in time for bed. Alaska is adding a third daily non-stop between Seattle and Maui on November 21 and already added a third daily non-stop to Honolulu. That should make it much easier to score an upgrade and bring down economy class fares that have climbed over $800. When taking ne of this trips by yourself, here is a post about 10 Ways To Keep Your Family Safe Even While You’re Away.

The complete list of new flights includes:

  • Second daily flight between Seattle and Tampa starting December 19
  • Second daily flight between Seattle and Fort Lauderdale starting November 5
  • Second peak day flight between Portland and Orlando starting January 7
  • Third peak day flight between Seattle and Orlando starting January 7
  • Third daily fight between Seattle and Maui starting November 21
  • Third daily flight between Seattle and Honolulu recently started
  • Third daily flight between Portland and Palm Springs starting January 7
  • First daily flight between Everett/Paine Field and Palm Springs starting November 5

And for those who like skiing, there will be a fourth peak day flight between Seattle and Bozeman starting January 7.

You can always get a list of new routes from the last six months on the Alaska Airlines website. And don’t forget to check out deals for extra bonus miles. These are often available for new routes (although none at the moment). You can still get double miles for certain flights between California and the east coast through the end of 2019.
