Save 10-20% on Paid Fares from Alaska Airlines

by Scott Mackenzie
Last updated December 11, 2019

Steve has an article up later this morning about Alaska’s sale on award fares, with prices as low as 10,000 miles each way for transcon fares. But you can also save on paid tickets. I first saw on Miles to Memories that they’re hosting a “happy hour” in partnership with Starbucks for the next few days.

Use the code IFLYALASKA and book by the end of December 13, 2019, in order to secure your savings. Get 10% off weekend flights departing Friday through Sunday or 20% off weekday flights departing Monday through Thursday. This is better than most Alaska Airlines fare sales that are only valid on certain days of the week. In this case, every day gets a discount but some are discounted more than others.

Start by clicking the link to use a discount or promotion code.

Then enter “IFLYALASKA” along with the rest of your search query to see discounted flights.

You must travel between January 7 and March 4, 2020, with blackout dates of February 13-23. Keep in mind that you can only use one discount code per reservation, and companion fares count as one type of discount code. This means you can’t stack the 10-20% discount with a companion fare. However, the discount will only apply to travelers in economy class with either Saver or Main Cabin fares.

That rules me out since I often travel with my wife and use a companion fare, which is a far better deal. However, the discount could still be useful for those traveling by themselves or if traveling with a companion on a cheap fare under $175 where the companion fare offers no savings.

You might even be able to pocket the savings if you rebook an existing ticket if you are an MVP Gold or 75K elite member since these customers don’t need to pay change fees. I’ve already got an existing reservation during January and am considering this approach.
