Review: Spirit Airlines Cafe Plus Snack Box

by Rohan Anand
Last updated December 11, 2017

You guys.

I’m back at it again.

I’ve passed the 30,000 point threshold with Spirit Airlines.

Remember Summer 2015? The year I had that epic love affair with Spirit?

Yea. We still hang out. From time to time. Things

Things are more or less the same. I still dig it.

Sooooo anyways. I flew her last week and I got to sample the in-flight snack box. Or, Cafe Plus Snack Box, as it is more, “formally” called.

I have to say, I was really dismayed that Spirit no longer offers Chips n’ Salsa onboard for sale on their flights. Seriously, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

Last summer, when I had a rendezvous to Minneapolis with Spirit, I got to taste these AMAZING chips, called, “The Better Chip,” that she offered onboard, paired with Tostitos salsa.  I even got #MamaAnand hooked on them when she flew Spirit!  #FoodieFam

Paired with those uhh-maaah-zing buzz balls Moscow mules or margaritas that Spirit offers on-board for sales, its like, THE BEST happy hour in the air.

Well, F. They stopped selling them. Is it beneath me to order them off Amazon?!

Neither here nor there.

So, I got the, “more munch for your crunch,” or “more box for your buck,” or whatever the saying is for Spirit’s onboard sales.

smallest. traytable. ever.

Le Box contains the following items:

  • Wheat thins
  • White cheddar spread
  • Beef jerky snack stick
  • M&Ms
  • Oreo
  • Albanese gummy bears

My future kid will appreciate this snack so much, that is, if the Universe ever deems me worthy enough to be a responsible parent. Welp. I’ll save them for my nephew, I guess.

Okay, so the wheat thins, jerky, and spread were all on the right track. But the M&Ms, Oreos and Gummy Bears could be, I don’t know, substituted out?  Like, the M&M’s and Oreos concept just feels superfluous. No need for two chocolates. Upgrade the BOX for an extra $1 and do choco-covered blueberries instead of the other. #BougieStyle. Or substitute out the Gummy Bears and put in Swedish Fish or Skittles.

Love you, Spirit, but Gummy Bears are barely a step above #ratchet.

One small, but noticeable difference, is that this snack box does not come with a wipe nor napkin. So, be prepared to ride dirty.

I washed this down with the margarita buzz ball before I took a nap. I woke up right before landing and only then did I realize….

Why was the tray table so small on this aircraft? Was it designed for small hands?

Melania????

Love you, Spirit
