Swiss Business Class to Zurich and Dusseldorf

by Brad
Last updated January 14, 2019

One nice thing about our European trip was that we were traveling between hubs of Star Alliance airlines. That meant we had the convenience of nonstop flights.  With a baby and all the accessories we were carrying, that was much appreciated.

Zurich

We had a great stay in Copenhagen, and our next stop was Zürich, so we were able to get a convenient nonstop on Swiss.  After our time in Zürich, we were flying home through Düsseldorf, so we also had a nonstop flight there as well.  This post will review the flights in Swiss Business Class.

Swiss Business Class Copenhagen to Zürich

I’ve flown Swiss on European Business Class before.  As is the norm on European carriers, the seats are awful Recaro slimline seats, only with a blocked middle seat to distinguish them from regular economy.  Before departure, flight attendants distributed a water bottle and a “refreshing tissue”.

That said, meal service is actually pretty good for the short flight, although the plastic-wrapped plate was unfortunate. Next selections from a bread basket. Before landing, flight attendants distributed Swiss chocolate.

The Swiss flight crew provided multiple toys and books for my daughter.  A stuffed smiling airplane toy/doll, a cloth picture book, and some coloring books.  A pretty nice array of items, although they all weren’t age appropriate for her, it seems like the various FA’s just gave her one of each toy/kids item that was available.  Of course the thing that entertained her the most during the flight was not any of the toys, but a water bottle…

enough legroom for a baby at least…

On the flight between Zurich and Dusseldorf,  an E-190 was on the schedule. But a few days before departure our aircraft changed to a Fokker 100 operated by Helvetic.  A rather old plane, but at least we still have Business Class service. The seats were not anything different from the rest of the plane, but at least they were the awful Recaro slimline seats.

A bus gate, but sadly not a separate Business Class bus as is sometimes available in Zurich

On board, we sat on the 3 seat side with a blocked middle.  The morning snack was pretty similar to what we had inbound to Zurich

Final thoughts on Swiss Business Class

Swiss is a good option when flying within Europe.  Don’t expect a fancy seat in Business class, but service is quite nice even on short flights.
