Ever Seen a Plane this Empty? Thai Airways BKK-KBV

I typically mean to post trip reports immediately after a trip. Then there are those times that I wait eight months to do it. Now would be one of the latter times Invalid request error occurred.. Today is January 31, 2011. This flight was on April 24, 2010. Eight months late is still better than never! Click after the break to see pictures of just how empty this flight was!

This flight was part of the best vacation I have ever had, and it was just a short hop down to Krabi from Bangkok. If you’re wondering why this flight was so empty, I think I can give three pretty good reasons.

  1. Global economic conditions were not the best, and that in turn took a hit on recreational travel (and who goes to Krabi for business).
  2. There was a volcano eruption in Iceland, canceling most of the flights out of Europe.
  3. Bangkok was in a state of unrest, with protests (some violent) going on in the streets.

Put those three things together and you get a flight that looks like the following:

a row of seats on an airplane

Yes… this is full capacity.

a group of people on an airplane

Anyone been on an emptier flight? Prooooove it… Invalid request error occurred.
