If you’re looking for a family-friendly hotel that’s conveniently located within walking distance to Disneyland, then the Fairfield Inn by Marriott Anaheim Resort, Disneyland may be a good option for you. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The location can’t be beat and the prices are actually reasonable for the area. You can easily stay here for a few days without blowing your entire vacation budget and the best part, you can sometimes find rates cheap enough to use one of your Chase Anniversary certificates (under 35k Marriott Bonvoy points) and make your family vacation even more affordable.
The best part of this hotel is definitely the location. It’s located directly across the street from Disneyland and it will take you about 7 minutes to get from the hotel to the entrance of the parks. Other than staying at one of the on-site Disney properties (Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian, Paradise Pier), it doesn’t really get much more convenient than this. Especially if you have little ones that need an afternoon break, you can easily take them back to the room for a couple hours of rest without feeling like you’re wasting the whole day away. There are also plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance so there’s enough to keep you occupied on your non-Disney days.
In this area, I also reviewed the Westin Anaheim Resort, which is geared more towards adults and business travelers. If you are here for work, attending a conference at the convention center or just want a more luxurious experience, then you should check out my review of the Westin Anaheim Resort. It’s a much nicer hotel with better amenities but it’s also a lot more expensive than the Fairfield Inn and it’s not as conveniently located.
Pro tip: If you’re visiting from out of town, and you’re only here for Disneyland/California Adventure, then you won’t need a car. Everything that you will want to do (Disneyland/California Adventure/Downtown Disney) is within walking distance and an Uber/Lyft from John Wayne Orange County Airport will cost you about $35. Coming in from LAX will be a little more expensive. An Uber/Lyft from LAX will cost you about $60.
If you need to venture out further or will have a car, then the daily parking rate at the Fairfield Inn is $28/day. However, keep in mind that your vehicle does need to be moved by 12:00 PM on the date you check out so if you are doing a Disney day on your checkout day, make sure to arrange for an additional day of parking at the hotel. Parking at Disneyland is $30/day so it’s actually cheaper to park at the hotel and walk over.
If you have stayed at a Fairfield Inn and Suites before, then this one will either meet or exceed your expectations. The hotel lobby and check-in areas are fairly standard for a Fairfield Inn. The employees are friendly and they’ll get you on your way in no time. There’s a small gift shop, some computers/printers to print out tickets or boarding passes and a small cafe area to purchase drinks, snacks and other essentials.
On this trip, I booked a standard king-bed room with no view using one of my Chase Anniversary certificates and (as a lowly Marriott Bonvoy Gold member) was upgraded to a Disney-themed room with a view of the parks. The room was very spacious and furnished with a king-size bed, pull-out sofa couch, work desk and a small sitting area. It was just the two of us for this trip but this room could easily accommodate two adults and two kids.
The ensuite bathroom was spacious with an enclosed room for the shower/tub and toilet; and an outside area for the sink and closet. I do appreciate this setup as one person can be in the shower/toilet and the other person(s) can be using the sink area. This definitely helps with getting ready in the mornings.
Room amenities include a Keurig coffee machine, small refrigerator, iron/ironing board and security safe. There are no microwaves in the rooms but there is a microwave in the game room (I’ll talk about that in a bit). WiFi is provided complimentary for all Marriott Bonvoy members and enhanced WiFi is provided complimentary for all Marriott Bonvoy Gold elite members and above.
As far as the views go, the premium Disney-themed rooms have the best views. Other than the one-bedroom studios, all the standard one king/two queen-rooms are the same on the inside. The only difference is the view. If you book a standard room, your view will be this.
But if you book a premium room with a park view, (it’s listed as a Disney-themed room on the website), then you will have some Disney-themed wallpaper inside your room and a view that faces the Disney parks. From inside the room, your view will look like this as there’s a walkway outside your front door. This picture was taken from room 808, which faces the Matterhorn and Space Mountain.
But if you step outside, your view will look like this. I’m not gonna lie. It’s pretty nice and you can actually watch the Disneyland fireworks show from here. You won’t be able to hear any of the music but at least it’s a nice way to end your night.
If you need to grab ice or snacks, vending machines are located outside on every floor.
Other resort amenities include a small fitness center, game room and washer/dryers located on the third floor. There’s also a Pizza Hut located onsite but it’s temporarily closed. Microwaves are located here if you have any leftovers that you want to warm up.
There’s also an outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi area but it’s pretty basic. You won’t find a huge pool area, water slide or lazy river here.
Fairfield Inn by Marriott Anaheim Resort, Disneyland Bottom Line
Overall, the Fairfield Inn Anaheim Resort is a great hotel and I would recommend it to anyone. It’s not the most amazing hotel by any means but the rooms are spacious and clean and the prices are reasonable for such a convenient location. There are enough amenities to make your stay comfortable and there are plenty of shops and restaurants located nearby. If you’re looking for a no-fuss, family-friendly hotel where you don’t have to worry about driving and parking at Disneyland, then the Fairfield Inn Anaheim Resort may be a good option for you to explore.
