Hawaiian Airline Launches Extra Comfort Economy Seats

Extra leg room will soon no longer be restricted to passengers who snagged the exit row or pay up for Business Class, as Hawaiian Airlines is joining the rank of carriers that offers a semi premium economy seat in the mid section of the plane. Launching August 1, 2014, Hawaiian Air A330 will offer economy class seats with an extra 5 inches of leg room and some upgraded amenities. Prices will range between $60 for flights to the US West Coast and Papeete and $100 for longer flights to New York and all other international routes.

Extra Comfort guests will enjoy the following benefits:

  • Five more inches of legroom for a full 36 inches of room to stretch out and relax
  • Priority boarding at the departure gate
  • Complimentary on-demand in-seat entertainment featuring dozens of movies, TV shows and more (already complimentary to all customers regardless of class of service)
  • Personal electrical power outlet to charge laptops and other electronic devices*
  • Complimentary pillow and blanket (on all domestic routes)
  • Souvenir pillow and blanket set (on international routes only)
  • Complimentary meals and snacks (already complimentary to all customers regardless of class of service)

The Extra comfort seat will ONLY be available on routes served by the A330 which will include:

Domestic Routes

  • Las Vegas (LAS)
  • Los Angeles (LAX)
  • New York (JFK)
  • Portland (PDX)
  • San Diego (SAN)
  • San Francisco (SFO)
  • Seattle (SEA)

International Routes

  • Auckland, New Zealand (AKL)
  • Beijing, China (PEK)
  • Haneda-Tokyo, Japan (HND)
  • Osaka-Kansai, Japan (KIX)
  • Papeete, Tahiti (PPT)
  • Sydney, Australia (SYD)
  • Taipei, Taiwan (TPE)

Until this product is formally launched in August, Airplanes will undergo seat configuration. In the interim the seats will be considered preferred seats and the Hawiian preferred seat program will continue. The Hawaiian Airlines’ wide-body, twin-aisle Airbus 330-200 aircraft  will seat 294 passengers, with 18 in First Class, 40 in Extra Comfort and 236 in the Main Cabin.
