Seabourn Expeditions

The Seabourn Venture is a brand new ultra-luxury polar class vessel. Unlike the older ships Seabourn took to Antarctica, Seabourn is launching all new expeditions by Seabourn. Focusing on taking passengers to far away places on earth, that large ships cannot go. Unlike the large cruise lines, expeditions are focused on education. Not flashy shows and crowded ports. Expeditions have a specific focus, ensuring passengers learn and experience a destination.

The Seabourn Venture has a dedicated 26 person expedition team. Your experienced Seabourn Expedition Team is a select group of academics, scientists and general naturalists who share your passion for exploring and learning about some of the world’s remote regions. On board, they provide expert insights into the bio-diversity, ecosystems, physical science, history and culture of the place you visits, both in formal Seabourn Conversations presentations and casual discussion through the ship. They also guide your off-ship expeditions to enhance and enrich your interaction and engagement with destinations.

Seabourn Expeditions travel the world. From tours up the Amazon river to the Northwest Passage, Seabourn expeditions will take you to hard to reach places. Is Greenland on your bucket list? Check, Seabourn Expeditions go there! Maybe Antarctica isn’t on your bucket list, but maybe the polar bears of Svalbard are? If so, Seabourn has an expedition for you! Please consider reaching out to us and we can find the perfect expedition for you.

Seabourn Expedition Ships

Antarctica cruse ships are much smaller than the more well know Seabourn Odyssey and Seabourn Encore ships. Instead of hosting 500+ guests, Seabourn’s new expedition ships hold a maximum of 264 people. With less people, it provides a better experience. Dedicated staff mean more time off the ship on land and in the water.

Both of Seabourn’s expedition ships boast all the perks of the larger ships. The Venture and Pursuit boast six dining rooms and bars areas. The cruise ships also has a rare polar heated pool and several hot tubs, all built specifically for small tours and frigid environments. The expedition cruises are small compared to the mega ships you’ll find in the Caribbean or Alaska, but this allows for a more intimate experience. Not to mention, smaller ships are required if you want to land and walk/hike Antarctica.

The ship has only 132 suites. Each designed for adventurers and curated with fine furnishings. Seabourn’s suites are all ocean-front suites all feature expansive views, opening onto private verandas for relaxing, wildlife and landscape viewing, or entertaining. Not a single cabin is an inside cabin or deckless.

Exploring Antarctica with Seabourn

All Seabourn expeditions are landing expedition cruises. Meaning you will get off the cruise ship daily. Explore the white continent by zodiacs. Spend each day walking and exploring the white continent by foot and zodiac. Under international agreements, ships with more than 500 passengers are restricted from landing sites. Since the Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit have a max capacity of 264 people, you’ll be able to get off the cruise ship daily. Differently, the Seabourn Odyssey or Encore have over 500 people, hence why they are no longer sailing to Antarctica. Finally, there is also enough Zodiacs for each passenger to simultaneously disembark and explore the waters with an expedition leader. Few operators in Antarctica can make this happen.

Shore excursions to the Antarctic peninsula for wildlife viewing and interactions with a penguin colony is one of the many highlights of the journey.

While off the ship, explore with on of the twenty six naturalist. Each Zodiac will have a naturalist/expedition leader who will answer questions and educate passengers. Back on the ship, additional naturalist are ready to educate and answer questions. There are other onboard activities which include the famous polar plunge and daily educational seminars. Plus, music, entertainment and of course, Seabourn luxury 5 star service with their nearly 1:1 staff to guest ratio.

Bottom Line

Nearly all of Seabourn cruises in 2023 and 2024 are on sale. Even if you’re not looking for an Antarctica expedition, there are other great deals to be had. From the Caribbean to Mediterranean, and nearly everywhere in-between, Seabourn can take you up close and personal with their luxurious small ships. As someone who use to hate cruising, I have found a home with Seabourn. I can honestly say that I now enjoy cruises. Furthermore, the opportunity to get off the beaten path and see less explored regions of the world, is why I turn to Seabourn and other expedition cruises. There are few expedition companies out there, and even less offering deals to Antarctica. Instead of spending 12-$20K, take advantage of this deal and book Antarctica for just $10,080 per person! These prices will not last!
