Lufthansa Business Class from Frankfurt to Copenhagen

by Brad
Last updated January 28, 2019

After our Lufthansa Business Class flight from Chicago on the 748i, we had a few hours in the Frankfurt airport before our connection to Copenhagen. At our arrival gate, despite being among the first off the plane, there was a long wait for our stroller (common theme on this trip as I would find out) and the walk from our gate to passport control and our next gate was predictably long.

Eventually, we went to the Lufthansa Senator Lounge (link to nice review by James) near the Z gates.  From here, we relaxed, had a snack, including a pretzel and more.  I got a little antsy after the long flight, so I went for a walk to stretch my legs and look at planes.  This was one of my first opportunities to share my aviation geek tendencies with my daughter.  I guess she didn’t share the excitement with her father.

After we returned to the lounge and then headed to our departure gate.  As we approached the gate, an agent approached us by name, and offered us help with our baggage and the opportunity to board first.  That was very nice, but since our flight was at a remote stand, this didn’t really help all that much.

The flight itself was pretty uneventful, and lasted only an hour.  I’m not a fan of the seats in the Lufthansa short haul fleet (the awful Recaro slimline design), and business class only means a blocked middle seat and maybe slightly more legroom.  Thankfully, the service was very good.

The meal quality was a pleasant surprise for the short leg. I guess that is the trade off in European business class compared with US premium cabins.  In the US, the seats are better, but typically the food and service are lagging the standards of business class in Europe.

Lufthansa intra-European business class provides nice service and a poor seat.  For the typically short flights, this isn’t too much of an issue.  After this flight, we were happy to be at the first destination of our trip, Copenhagen.  This was a new country for all of us.  As you can see, our photos have changed with a new subject in frame.  More to come from Denmark soon.
