Review: Qatar Airways Al Mourjan Business Lounge

by Rocky Horan
Last updated April 11, 2017

Qatar Airways’ Al Mourjan Business Lounge in Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Qatar is beautiful and well-planned. The lounge is only open to Qatar Airways passengers traveling in Business Class where oneworld elites and elites traveling in economy are sent to a dumb-down lounge without all the luxury amenities offered in the Al Mourjan Business Lounge. This is actually a good thing, as the Qatar Airways Al Mourjan Business Lounge is actually quite crowded as it is!

The grand staircase leads to the formal restaurant. There is also an elevator for those with luggage. The chandeliers hangs from the center of the staircase to  just a few feet above the infinity pool and combined are the focal point of beauty in the lounge.

The oversize lounge is located above the center concourse and spreads out through multiple rooms and floors and includes everything a major lounge would be expected to have and more! Spending time in the Qatar Airways Al Mourjan Business Lounge lounge in Doha makes you quickly forget you’re traveling or even in an airport! After all, how many lounges have infinity pools, multiple story chandeliers, game rooms, restaurants and more!?!

Qatar Airways Business Class lounge Dining Options

The lounge offers three dining option for travelers which includes a la carte dining options on the upper floor in the dining room and is open to all travelers who access the lounge. Inside the large dining hall there is also a hot and cold buffet bar which features Middle Eastern inspired food, salads, soups, and other munchies.

For those with a sweet tooth, there is a large dessert and coffee bar. The dining room is equipped with wait staff and a full service bar and everything from the cooked-to-order items to the alcohol is complimentary!

If buffet style eating or a hot meal isn’t your forte, skip the dining room and head over to the opposite side of lounge where another large café offers made to order customized sandwiches and salads! The far side of the lounge is more cafeteria style but is actually a lot more relaxing and calming.

The Qatar Airways Al Mourjan lounge offers so much food! It is more comparable to a cruise than an airport lounge!

Just Drink in the Al Mourjan lounge

Not in a mood to eat and just want to drink? Qatar Airways has you covered, as the lounge offers multiple quick stop bar carts which are equipped with spirits and wines. Therefore, you are never far from a drink of wine or water! Find the carts randomly throughout the lounge.

There’s also walk-up stations with coffee, juices, water, soda, and more. For a specialty drink, see one of the bar tenders and they will gladly whip you up a mojito, a Manhattan, or any other libation! The best bar is in the restaurant. However, for simple well drinks or water there are drink carts throughout the lounge!

Qatar Airways Business Class Lounge Play and Relaxation Stations

The lounge experience does not end with the drinking and food options. Instead Qatar Airways offers unique amenities. Families can  use the family room area which allows space for families to let their kids run wild behind closed glass. Kids and adults alike head to the play room which is more like an arcade than anything else. Smokers, Qatar has you covered! A smoking room in the lounge is avaialble to satisfy nicotine cravings. There is also rest and relax semi private pods with individual TV and lounge chairs for sleeping. Then if you’re feeling dirty, check into an oversize showers and wash the flight away. Finally there is tons of seats to just kick back and relax in!

The busy smoking room is pictured below. I would recommend finding a seat far away from it, and not in front of it. Each time the door opens smoke tends to escape and the smoke smell is gross! This might not bother a smoker, but it annoys me!

Final Thoughts on the Lounge

The lounge is extremely well organized and caters to just about every type of traveler. Traveling as families, businessman, drunks, smokers, kids, vacationers, the gamers, the tired, there’s something for everyone! Power sockets are at every seat to recharge equipment. Additionally, Qatar Airways has placed individual tablets at most seats throughout the lounge. The tablets can surf the web and they provide flight information and updates.

There are also other sitting options including couches and more social settings.

Shower rooms are also provided for those who want to freshen up between flights.

Bathrooms are three-room suites featuring Ritual products. There’s a separate shower, toilet, and changing area/sink in each private suite.Qatar Airways Al Mourjan Business Lounge shower

The Qatar Airways Al Mourjan Business lounge in Doha further elevates the idea that Middle Eastern carriers do things better! The grandiose lounge is not to be missed and is worth the visit! Heck, I’d even show up extra early and slightly malnourished just to be able to experience it all! But remember, if you’re not flying Qatar Airways Business class you will not have access to this lounge!
