The Seabourn Pursuit, the epitome of opulence on the high seas, delivers an unforgettable expedition cruise experience that will surpass all expectations. The Second expedition ship in the Seabourn fleet, the Pursuit is one of the carries two custom built expedition ships. Seabourn Pursuit is nearly an exact replica of the Seabourn Venture. This ship is just about 18 months newer with newer paint and different art throughout. The Pursuit is the newest ship in the Seabourn Fleet.
Seabourn received the Pursuit on July 31, 2023 and started sailing on its inaugural season throughout the Mediterranean in August 2023. The Pursuit will join her sister ship Seabourn Venture in Antarctica in November 2023 and then the cruise ship will spend the majority of her time between the Southern Ocean and the South Pacific depending on the time of year.
I was able to visit the Seabourn Pursuit in late September when she was at the Port in Miami. After a great overnight stay, I can say everything about the Seabourn Pursuit lives up to the Seabourn namesake. The ship is absolutely stunning. From the moment we stepped aboard this floating palace to the final farewell, every detail was meticulously curated to provide the utmost in luxury and comfort. The ship is very similar to the Venture, just with different color pallet.
Accommodations and Suites
The Seabourn Pursuit excels in all categories. The ship features 132 cabins, all which are suites with a max accommodation of 264 passengers. All suites in all categories have several Seabourn extras and thoughtful touches. Such as a 5 piece marble bathroom with a soaking tub, walk in closets, and a heated closet for drying expedition gear. There’s also complimentary high speed wifi Internet by starlink throughout the ship, making it easy to stay connected and share photos and experience with those not traveling.
For the second time, last time on the Venture, I had a beautiful Veranda Panorama suite. These rooms are absolutely stunning and my favorite on the ship. The larger windows, heated floors in the bathroom and in room nespresso machine are just a few upgrades in the VP suites. Plus the extra square footage is always welcome. There are just 16 Veranda Panorama rooms on each ship.
Check out the video of my Veranda Panorama Suite:
Other suites include the most popular suite, the Veranda Suites. There are 104 Veranda Suites on each ship. All Veranda suites boast : 355 sq. ft. (33 sq. m.) including a veranda of 75 sq. ft. (7 sq. m.). These suites feature a queen bed, seating area, and 5 piece marble bathroom with a soaking tub. Plus the other extras mentioned above. Even for an entry level room, this rooms are stunning!
While on the ship in Miami I was also able to view the stunning lofted Wintergarden suite. These suites are extra special. There are only 2 on the entire ship. Both are on Deck 7 Suites 1,044 sq. ft. (97 sq. m.) of a total space. This includes an extended large balcony of 129 sq. ft. (12 sq. m.). The two story window is worth the upgrade alone, to maximize views throughout every expedition. I can only imagine sailing through Antarctica with these amazing windows.
The spacious ADA rooms are also fantastic rooms. The rooms are penthouse levels and there’s a reason. For those with mobility issues or are wheelchair bound, these suites are stunning. With a large living room and separate bedroom. Even the bathroom is huge and accommodating. The bathroom has a large shower instead of a tub. Otherwise, the room is very similar to other rooms with double the space.
Each room is a haven of sophistication and comfort designed by Tihany design. Expect spacious, elegantly furnished, and breathtaking ocean views. Every Seabourn Suite is a retreat. The attention to detail in the design, from the plush bedding to the carefully chosen molton brown amenities, reflected a commitment to creating an oasis of relaxation. Well done, all around.
Dining
Gastronomic delights awaited us at every turn. Like the Seabourn Venture there are 8 different dining options for guests. My favorite part of Seabourn though is always the unlimited caviar service. It may never be on the menu, but you can ask for it anywhere from the restaurant to room service. You can even get it at lunch in the colonnade if you wish.
The main dining room is for dinner and is openly nightly at 7pm. Occasionally, especially on sea days, you can get breakfast or lunch in the main restaurant as well. Chose to dine when you want, with whoever you want. There’s no assigned tables or times.
The colonnade is open daily for breakfast and lunch. At dinner time it becomes table service. Also known as Earth & Ocean on other ships.
Eat lunch outside by the pool in warmer weather destinations. The back patio is attached to the colonnade. In colder weather destinations outdoor dining is mostly closed.
Never forget, the entire main restaurant menu is available via room service. Or do what I love to do and order caviar!
Expeditions Excursions and Activities
The Seabourn Pursuit is the 2nd expedition ship. The PC6 polar class standards of the ship’s hull allows the ship to visit the most remote places on earth, cutting through ice to get there. The ship’s designed and includes modern hardware and technology that will extend the ships global deployment and capabilities throughout the polar regions and the South Pacific.
The shore excursions will be the highlight of the journey. I will never forget my own Journey on the venture when I was able to step onto land in Antarctica for the first time. It was mind blowing.
The ship boasts a 26-person expert expedition team. The expert expedition team whose role is to engage guests throughout each voyage through thoughtful conversations, educational lectures, zodiac rides and exploration of land.
The ship also is equipped with two submarines, 24 zodiacs, kayaks and more. The custom built submarines, 24 zodiacs, and 8 sea kayaks allow for guests to explore both above and below the sea.
Everything is carefully crafted to immerse guests in the local culture and natural beauty of each destination. The knowledgeable guides added depth to the explorations, enhancing your understanding of the places visited while on the ship, Seabourn Pursuit
Bottom Line
In conclusion, the Seabourn Pursuit is built for diverse environments. While on board I was able to visit with many staff that helped make the Seabourn Venture a success, as the inaugural crew on the Pursuit mostly worked the Seabourn Venture last year. To celebrate the new ship, guests can take 20% off new Seabourn bookings made before Oct 31, 2023. Only when booking via Scott and Thomas.
