What Governor Cuomo Is Saying

“We have to make sure the virus doesn’t come in on a plane,” said New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.  “We worked very hard to get the viral transmission rate down, and we don’t want to see it go up.”

How The Quarantine States Are Included

The travel advisory applies to anyone coming from a state with a positive test rate higher than 10 per 100,000 residents over a 7-day rolling average or a state with a 10% or higher positivity rate over a seven-day rolling average, according to a joint announcement from the governors of the three states.

Since the benchmarks are calculated on a seven-day rolling average, the list of states included in the quarantine is continually subject to change.

Massachusetts Will Begin Quarantine Tomorrow

Governor Charlie Baker announced a quarantine order for the state of Massachusetts that will affect both visitors and residents of the state.  This order excludes those coming from all states except:
  1. Rhode Island
  2. Connecticut
  3. New Jersey
  4. New York
  5. Vermont
  6. Maine
  7. New Hampshire
Those visitors and residents coming from states not on the above list will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days.
