Review: Ambassador Transit Hotel, Changi Terminal 3

by Amol
Last updated February 1, 2019

Introduction/Booking
New LAX Star Alliance Lounge/Tom Bradley International Terminal
Singapore A380 Suites, Los Angeles to Tokyo-Narita
ANA Suite Lounge (Satellite 4) and United Club, Tokyo-Narita
Singapore A380 Suites, Tokyo-Narita to Singapore
Singapore Changi Ambassador Transit Hotel, Terminal 3
Singapore Airlines Private Room (and a day in Singapore)
Singapore Airlines NEW Boeing 777-300ER First Class, Singapore to Mumbai

The transit hotel at Changi Terminal 3 is rather spartan.  The transit hotel charges about $60 US for a 6-hour stay, which is great for Singapore Airlines #11’s arrival at 3:15am.  I was actually out of the hotel at 7am since I had gotten so much sleep on my Tokyo-Singapore flight.  I usually would go hang out in the lounge and catch my onward connecting flight, but my flight to Mumbai wasn’t until 7:55pm and I had a full day in Singapore (as well as a full day the next day in Mumbai) so I valued rest.

One of the main negatives is that wi-fi isn’t available within the hotel rooms (a LAN cable is offered but that doesn’t help with mobile devices).  Still, it’s cheaper than the Crowne Plaza and you don’t have to exit immigration to use the hotel.  The bed was comfortable enough and I laughed at the window drapes in front of a solid wall to mimic as if a window was there.  The shower was powerful, although the drain didn’t empty water as quickly as the showerhead flowed.

Even if you don’t have lounge access, Singapore Changi Airport is seriously one of the best in the world (if not the best).  There’s so much stuff to do if you have a long layover.  I really see the transit hotel as a place to get a good sleep in a private room with a shower.  I don’t think I’d need it for more than 6 hours.

Outside the transit hotel ... one of the world's best airports.

But of course, like a good First Class passenger, I still stopped by The Private Room for breakfast before heading out into the city 😉
