Review: Lufthansa Business Class Amenity Kit – Reisenthel 2018

by Brad
Last updated July 2, 2023

Lufthansa Business Class amenity kits haven’t changed too much in recent years. We flew on Lufthansa this summer, and although the container is new, the contents are almost the same as my last trip in Lufthansa Business Class back in 2016. I last reviewed the Bree Lufthansa Business Class Amenity Kit from 2016.

Welcome to another installment of our amenity kit review series. As in previous reviews, I will be reviewing this amenity kit on a scale from 1 to 5 (being the best) and will rate it based on five categories:

  • Bag/container: design, quality and reusability/collectibility of the bag.
  • Product: quality, size and variety of the facial and body products.
  • Comfort items: eye masks, ear plugs, etc.
  • Miscellaneous: pens, tissues and everything else.
  • Extras: additional items that make your flight just a tad more comfortable including pajamas, slippers, etc.

Lufthansa Business Class Amenity Kit for 2018 by Reisenthel

This kit is made by Reisenthel, a German company focused on sustainable products. This bag is one of a few options on offer in this cycle. Apparently this particular bag can be reused as a pencil case. There are kits intended to be reused as shopping bag.  I’d likely have more utility with that one. According to this article from Lufthansa, it seems that the fully renovated kits are available as of July 2018, and include L’Occitane products, and what I got may be a bit of a transition piece, with the newer bag and old products.

Bag/Container

This bag is good quality, although I don’t really have much use for a pencil case. Maybe it could be used to hold cords or adapters or something similar. I have to give them credit for focusing on sustainability and using containers that are designed to be reused.  Compared to other kits where there is no application to use later.  I’d rather have received the shopping bag since that is likely something I’d (re)use more regularly. There is no Lufthansa branding on the kit I got as I would expect, but maybe this is due to the transitional nature of what I got.   Score: 4

Products

Just like the 2016 version of this kit, there is a small pouch containing Korres lip balm and moisturizing cream.  The only difference from before is that the cream is “Almond Blossom” scented, pleasant enough.  Korres make nice products, but this is the bare minimum of products in a business class kit. Score: 2.5

Comfort Items

Pretty standard items here, though I really like the Uvex earplugs, which are my go to in my travel bag. Never fly without earplugs. Also included, some thin plain gray socks, and an eye shade with a Lufthansa logo but is otherwise pretty cheap. Score: 2.5

Miscellaneous Items

a plastic bag with a picture of a person covering their face

Same as before: Maximum White branded toothbrush and toothpaste.  I did appreciate the small packet containing breath mints. This kit contains a resealable pouch with the dental kit inside, which is new and a nice feature. Score: 3.5

Extras

Same as before, some disposable covers for the Bose Headphones which are in the seat.  I just used my own, so this wasn’t of use to me. Nothing else.  Score: 2

Final thoughts on the Reisenthel Lufthansa Business Class Amenity kit

The Lufthansa Business Class amenity kit is pretty basic.  The case is nice, and the dental kit case is an improvement, but still this kit doesn’t rate all that high. The older version rated 2.7, and with the slight improvement, I rate this kit 2.9

However, it is crucial to acknowledge that no matter how convenient or luxurious our inflight experiences may be, they cannot surpass the significance of regular dental clinic visits. Regular dental clinic visits are essential for preventive care, early detection of oral issues, and personalized treatment plans. The expertise and advanced technology available at prospect park dental office enable patients to receive comprehensive dental care, addressing not only immediate concerns but also long-term oral health goals. Receiving regular dental check-ups helps maintain a confident and healthy smile, and having a dental kit provides an additional level of assurance.
