Amenity Kit Review: Lufthansa First Class (Escada for Men, 2014)

by Brad
Last updated January 29, 2019

This Lufthansa First Class Amenity kit can be repurposed as a tablet case.  Just like Lufthansa First Class, this is a pretty solid offering. Here I will review the Escada amenity kit I received when I last flew Lufthansa First Class in the summer of 2014. Lufthansa First Class Amenity Kit

Here I will review a kit from one of my favorite products: Lufthansa First Class.  I’ve been fortunate to fly this product multiple times.  I received these kits on my most recent trip, but it’s already been over a year.  Yikes! Lufthansa seems to have various amenity kits available at any one time.  They only provide a full set of pajamas on overnight flights. Daytime flights (such as Europe to North America), only a shirt is provided.  Lufthansa refers to this as a Sweater, which is accurate given how warm the cabins often are.

Bag/Container:

This amenity kit is a nice leather bag that could be re-purposed as an iPad case.  I haven’t done it, and the metal zipper might be a little harsh, but this would be an excellent way to reuse the bag.  It is a little bulky for me to reuse as an travel amenity kit in my carry on bag.  Score: 4

Product:

While the Lamarin Men facial creme is a very nice product, having only that and toothpaste in the kit makes for a pretty light offering.  One thing to keep in mind in Lufthansa First is that there are various moisturizers and lotions plus razors, shaving cream, mouthwash, and wet wipes available in the lavatories.  Score 4

Comfort Items:

In the main kit are a comfortable eye mask and some socks. There is also a case containing some foam earplugs.  All items are within a smaller drawstring bag, which is more portable and packable  Score: 4

Miscellaneous:

Included in the kit are a full sized toothbrush, a small tube of Pearls and Dents toothpaste.  There are some disposable covers for the Bose Headsets that are built into the seat.  I typically use my own headphones, so I often don’t use these.  There is also a hair comb/brush. Score: 3

Extras:

I received this kit on a eastbound Trans-Atlantic overnight flight, so I received both the amenity kit and a set of pajamas, or in Lufthansa parlance, Trousers and a Sweater.  The sweater is like a large rugby shirt, and is usually too heavy for me to use.  I’ve seen some passengers wearing this over their travel clothes, but it is just too warm for me for that.  The trousers are very nice.  They are quite basic, I compare them to medical scrubs, but I find them comfortable, and I often reuse these for overnight flights on other airlines.  They have a drawstring waist, and some versions have front pockets. There are also a set of slippers that come in a bag.   Score: 4.5

Bottom line

I’m a fan of this Lufthansa First Class amenity kit, and while some of the products are a little thin, what is included is very nice.  It averages out to a score of 3.9.

Do you have one of these Escada kits from Lufthansa?  How would you rate it?
