Priority Pass recently rolled out some new restaurant options as part of their lounge network and I have to admit, I really like them. For true lounge enthusiasts, these restaurant options don’t provide much value but for me, I think they are great. Sometimes when I’m traveling, I need an actual lounge to charge my electronics, connect to WiFi and send off some last-minute emails but for the most part, I’m just looking for a bite to eat and a place to chill before my next flight. And fortunately for me, these new Priority Pass restaurant options do just that.
One recent addition to the Priority Pass Lounge network is the P.F. Chang’s restaurant located at LAX. The restaurant is located airside (post-security), on the second floor of the Tom Bradley International Terminal, directly below the Star Alliance Lounge. Access to the restaurant is intended for international departure passengers only but since most terminals at LAX are connected airside now, you can easily walk over to P.F. Chang’s for a bite to eat before heading back to your departure terminal. If you have a Priority Pass membership with unlimited visits, this actually is a good deal.
P.F. Chang’s at LAX is open from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily. Priority Pass members are entitled to a $30 credit off their dining bill, per guest, valid towards the purchase of food and/or drinks. So if you’re traveling with a guest, then the credit will be $60 off your total bill. However, keep in mind that if your bill is lower than your allotted amount, you cannot get a refund or use the remaining balance as gratuity for the server. Additionally, you can only use one Priority Pass card per cardholder.
The restaurant itself is really spacious but during my visit, 1:00 PM on a Monday afternoon, only a third of the restaurant was open for business. Even with plenty of tables open, my friend and I had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. Service was very slow here so if you’re pressed for time, this won’t be the best option for you.
Priority Pass describes P.F. Chang’s as “a contemporary, bistro-style restaurant that offers a unique blend of high quality, authentic Chinese cuisine in a sophisticated setting.” But let’s be honest, it’s just an overpriced Chinese food joint. The food is good and there’s a large variety of menu items to choose from but you won’t be blown away by any means. Here’s a sample of the menu and prices. For the most part, your $30 credit will get you a main dish and a soft drink.
I wasn’t that hungry during my visit so I just ordered three appetizer plates (fried rice, crab wontons and pork potstickers).
P.F. Chang’s LAX Bottom Line
This is your standard P.F. Chang’s so if you have been to a P.F. Chang’s anywhere else before, you can expect the same quality of food here… just with more expensive prices. Overall, I would say this Priority Pass benefit is a good value and I appreciated the free meal before boarding my flight. Sure, it’s not a true airport lounge. I didn’t get to charge my phone or fire off any emails but I did get a decent meal in my belly and killed some time in between flights. And if I had the chance, I would visit here again.
