SriLankan Business Class Amenity Kit Review

by Brad
Last updated September 3, 2024

SriLankan Airlines is a smaller member of the Oneworld Alliance.  The fly mostly around South and Southeast Asia, with some flights to Europe, East Asia and Australia. They have a few A330s they use for the longer haul flights, including Tokyo, which I took.  I will have a full review of my flight from Tokyo later, but now here is an amenity kit review from what I recieved on board. It seems SriLankan used to have branded amenity kits, but that is not the case anymore, now the kit is just plain white fabric bag with the airlines logo on it.

Welcome to another installment of our amenity kit review series. As in past reviews, I will be reviewing this amenity kit on a scale from 1 to 5 (being the best) and will rate it based on five categories:

  • Bag/container: design, quality and reusability/collectibility of the bag.
  • Product: quality, size and variety of the facial and body products.
  • Comfort items: eye masks, ear plugs, etc.
  • Miscellaneous: pens, tissues and everything else.
  • Extras: additional items that make your flight just a tad more comfortable including pajamas, slippers, etc.

According to Sri Lankan’s website, they provide Aigner branded amenity kits. That no longer seems to be the case, only an unbranded canvas bag.  Below is a photo and description from the website:

a group of toiletries and a bag

Our Business Class passengers will be offered a complimentary Aigner amenity kit consisting of essential cosmetics and toiletry items, carefully selected to ensure a refreshing journey with SriLankan Airlines.

Clearly it has changed, both the bag itself and the contents.

Bag/Container

The bag itself is fine, plain white canvas with a stitched SriLankan airlines logo with Silver thread.  A gold zipper and a satin-y interior fabric. Seems a missed opportunity to cross-promote with another brand, although maybe that is what they had with Aigner, and it has gone away for whatever reason.  The bag is perfectly functional, but flimsy, has no structure, and likely won’t be reused other than for my collection.  Score: 2

Producta bag with a bag and a toiletries

Not a lot offered in the kit, so hard to break this down into categories, but i’ll try to stick to the system I use for these reviews.  The toothbrush and 5g tube of Colgate.  Pretty standard offering, Toothbrush has black bristles, which is different. There is also some lip balm, and King Coconut hand lotion from the local Frella brand. The lotion is very nice, so a slight bump up in the score despite nothing else being offered. Score: 3.5

Comfort Items

a window in an airplane

There are socks, slippers, and and eyemask.  Probably standard for Asian carriers, but both socks and slippers are more than some americAAn carriers offer nowadays.  American now offers slippers instead of socks, but of course of my 2 flights with them since this change, only one was provisioned properly.  Apologize for lack of photos, but the above shows the day blanket and slippers.  Slippers are good quality, and I kept using them for the rest of the trip, and still have them.  Socks are pretty basic, typical of kits, but at least have the SriLankan logo on them. Score: 3

Miscellaneous Items

Nothing here really, not even earplugs, which seems like a miss. But I feel no traveler should travel without them already. I’ll put toothbrush and toothpaste here due to lack of anywhere else to slot that, a standard toothbrush and 5g tube of Colgate.  Pretty typical offering, except for the black bristles, which is different. Score: 3

Extras

As mentioned slippers and socks are provided. Score: 3.5

Final thoughts on the SriLankan Business Class Amenity kit

The container itself  is pretty basic, and seemingly not great quality. Sri Lankan brand Frella products are of good quality, just wish there was more offered. Slippers are nice, and socks are typical. Overall a pretty standard kit for business class, with a cheap feeling bag, and nice but limited products included.

Using the same scoring system for other reports, subjective yes, but I do my best to be consistent across products, I rate this kit 3.0

Have you tried out this kit from SriLankan Airlines?

I’m pretty geeky about these amenity kits, and always take them after flights. This means I have more than I need. For this reason, I make donations to a local shelter, where these items are really appreciated. If you have extras, I hope you do the same.
